| Summer Beach House on Fire Island, New York Posted: 09 Aug 2010 10:10 AM PDT We know some of you guys enjoy beach home designs so here is an interesting project from Studio27 Architecture located on Fire Island in New York. We’ve heard that all houses in the Pines of Fire region have a similar architecture which is said to reflect the pragmatism of the local community and are easily recognizable due to this factor. However, the architects said they tried to add a little extra “spirit of the shore” to this particular project and make it stand out. Built from woven cedar boards, the residence has a warm and friendly feel. Its exterior looks quite inviting, particularly the pool area with the beautiful furniture additions. The surrounding trees offer a convenient amount of shade while cheering up the atmosphere. The interiors have a contemporary design and feature modern arrangements.

| New “Treehotel” in Sweden with Original Room Designs Posted: 09 Aug 2010 06:51 AM PDT Located just 60 kilometers South of the Arctic Circle, in Harads, Sweden, the “Treehotel” is an innovative accommodation project, one that is also considered environmental friendly. Treehotel consists of four individual rooms, all with a unique design. The most talked about building is “The Mirrorcube” designed by Tham & Videgard Architects, a 4 meters cube covered with reflecting glass, making it almost invisible within its environment. In the same time, this gives the guests the opportunity to have a 360 degree view of the forest. Other projects include “The Cabin”, “The Blue Cone” and “The Nest” (a camouflaged building by InredningsGruppen) which are already open for visiting. The “rooms” have all the comfort a common hotel has to offer and are said to be built using sustainable materials. In five years Britta Jonsson Lindvall and Kent Lindvall, the initiators of this project, say that there will be 24 different tree buildings here designed by 24 architects. The Treehotel offers accommodation all year long and the costs go up to 420Euros a night for two guests in the Mirrorcube. How do you feel about this project?
